这是The Beatles在Capitol唱片公司发行的第二张专辑，也是乐队的第三张专辑。在美国，一经发行就代替了《Meet the Beatles! 》成为榜单第一名的专辑。 在那一时期The Beatles的创作，包括8首原创作品（7首为Lennon-McCartney作品，以及George Harrison的首支被收录至乐队专辑的歌曲《Don't Bother Me》），以及6首翻唱（大部分为Motown和R&B热门单曲）。其中大部分歌曲除了在《With The Beatles》发行外，也收录至《Meet the Beatles!》，其他歌曲则被收录至这张《The Beatles' Second Album》。
