NYC based duo No Wave is comprised of Jeremy Christian and Brandon Neuburger, long time friends and musical collaborators. They first met at Northeastern University in Boston in 2010, but it was not until 2016 that they began work on a musical project in earnest. Initially, their style was more akin to British bands from the 1980s, like The Cure and New Order. However, once they ventured into the world of synthesizers and developed a deeper appreciation for chillwave music, their work adopted more of a synth-pop sound. During this time they also discovered they had mutual influences, including The National, Nine Inch Nails, Gorillaz, Empire of the Sun, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and others. Released in the summer of 2017, their debut EP “Fade Away” featured production by Neuburger and vocals/lyrics by Christian. In summer 2018 the band worked on a new batch of songs and eventually released the follow-up single “Tonight” with another video. The single represented a slicker, more upbeat aesthetic that signalled the band’s growth into a more accomplished and mature sound. Their work has led to several online blogs and websites writing about the band, as well as a featured interview in the New Jersey-based alternative music publication The Aquarian Weekly.
