During an Art class in 6th grade, Mr Tapp taught that a self-portrait does not need to be accurate BUT it does need to be true. This, as it turns out, was the first step on the path that led me (and also you, actually) to these songs. They are hopelessly inaccurate. But, they are decidedly true. And, somehow, they are exactly me. "Self-Portrait" was recorded over a period of 5 years beginning in 2008 with a two day session at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. After spending most of the last 12 years teaching himself to write music, Jeff’s songs have been heard nationally in Canada on the CBC and have charted locally on campus radio stations (yes, they still exist). The Toronto Star (reviewing a performance) warned, “We're sure to hear more greatness from Jones in years to come.” Well, perhaps, now is that time. More recently he has begun a video webseries on youtube entitled “89 Songs” (where he intends to document acoustic performances of, yes, 89 songs from his repertoire. He’s been called odd.
