Invitation
Saxophonist Jeff Jones writes and performs music from a global perspective. After many years as a sideman for some of Arizona\'s best bands, Jeff struck out on his own in 1997 with the CD \"Mosaic\" which was made up of originals and covers of songs done in world styles. Samba, Bossa Nova, Latin Jazz and Reggae all influence Jeff\'s writing and song choice. Jeff was first attracted to Samba and Bossa Nova musical styles when he had the opportunity to perform with various Latin groups in Phoenix. It wasn\'t until a chance meeting with Brazilian drummer Miro De Sa in 1997 resulted in a studio collaboration however that Jeff\'s love affair with Brazilian music began in earnest. \"Miro taught street samba in Rio where he was born so I hired him to arrange the drums and percussion for Na Tonga, the opening song on Mosaic.\" Na Tonga received national airplay in 1998 hitting #12 on the Gavin Charts. Jeff has now turned his sights on the classic Bossa nova instrumentation and latin jazz arrangements. His latest CD is titled \"Invitation\" and features some of the finest Latin jazz musicians in the Phoenix and LA area. If you love latin jazz with a contemporary approach, but respectful to the legacies of Tito Puente and Cal Tjader, you\'ll love Jeff Jones and Mosaic\'s newest \"Invitation\" !
