If Only (2015 Remix)

If Only (2015 Remix)

Constantine started writing songs in the mid 1980’s. He has written over 150 songs in the past 20 years and often plays live at special events. He has been influenced by Elton John, James Ingram, Barry Manilow, Quincy Jones, George Michael and others. He is also a great fan of classic groups that have written fantastic power ballads such as Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Rainbow and the Scorpions. Personal: He is a Greek American, born in Hartford, Connecticut. He holds a Bachelor degree, a Masters and a Doctorate having studied in the USA and the UK. During his college years at the University of Connecticut USA and the University of Surrey UK he always played the guitar at various events and happenings and learned how to play the basics on the piano. He started recording solo in 1987, however his first real recording session came through his first group, "Nemesis" in 1990 in Greece with a song called “Pes mou” (tell me), music written by Panagiotis Voulgaris and Constantine (lyrics). Te song was written for the Eurovision song contest of that year and did quite well in the preliminaries locally. The next year, 1990 – 1991 Constantine set up a group called “Aeolic Winds’ with his fellow University student and keyboard player Manos Papanastasiou in the UK, an excellent artist now living in Thessaloniki. The songs written were mainly romantic ballads, all having a story behind them. One of the songs (the recording has been lost) called “An filio boroune” (If friends can) was actually written for Manos’ wife... After Manos’ departure from the UK in 1991, Constantine continued solo, and met Christos Grigorakis in 1993 at the University of Surrey. Christos wrote lyrics mainly in Greek. Together, they wrote songs for more than 15 years and still have some recording sessions occasionaly. Most memorable songs are ‘Anarotieme”, one of Constantine's best ballads ever. The Greek version (lyrics) was influenced by Garth Brooke’s “If tomorrow never comes”. “An” or “If only” the US version of the song, was written in 1995 and recorded in 1996 at Power Studios in Greece, arranged by Stratos & Achileas Diamantis. Some of their most recent recordings (2006) offered on the album include “Klepse mou ena vradi” (Steal a night for me) and ‘Ehi Panselino” (“Full moon”), a song written on a friend’s terrace in Kifissia Greece in 2001. After the completion of his studies in 1995, Constantine returned to Greece and attempted to find a record label to back him up. In 1996 however, he realized that the music industry could not support his ambitions and started working for various companies while playing live at various events until he eventually decided to become an entrepreneur in the educational industry in Greece. Despite hard work through setting up organizations, Constantine continued to write songs through “ping pong” recording through his 4 channel Yamaha recorder at home and – in certain cases – at well – known studios. He has worked with Stratos & Achilleas Dimantis, Vasilis Nikolopoulos, Vasilis Dertilis (Power Studios), Aris Kalogeropoulos, Marcos Morin and others. In 2003, Constantine wrote “Vale mou krasi” (pour me some wine), a song for his wife Antigoni. They were married in 2005. he went into hiatus from 2003 - 2007 until getting back into remixing and publishing again with the help of Kata Fytrou and friends. "If only" was re-recorded as a remix to "An" (Greek version) in 2000 but had an early 90’s sound, being arranged by Stratos Diamantis in 1996. This is one of the reasons he released If only as a single again in 2015; to give it a more contemporary sound. Constantine is still working on his own original music during his free time and working with his rock group, set up with Stan Voulanas in Greece for live appearances (since 2009). He has two children, a daughter, Marili and Theodore. His brother is one of the most experienced and well-known DJ's in Athens Greece.
