Ringo Madlingozi - Lead Singer in this rendition of “Madiba- Soul of the Nation” Ringo was born in Township of Gugulethu, on the outskirts of Cape Town. At present, Ringo resides in Johannesburg, South Africa. In 1986 he won the Shell Road to Fame contest with his band Peto and since then has had an illustrious career. He is adept in a variety of genres including Pop, Reggae, Blues and Jazz. However, his sound is firmly rooted in traditional Xhosa rhythms. He has also collaborated with artists and groups including UB40, Dillon OBryan and HHP and has appeared at many International Festivals; he has played to sold-out concerts in the UK, France, Netherlands, Spain and Germany. He has had phenomenal success as a recording artist. He is an active producer and has worked alongside a number of prominent artists and musical legends including the late Miriam Makeba. Robert Schroder: Musical Arranger/Producer Rob is the man behind the multi-platinum music careers of top selling South African group, Mango Groove as well as Ringo Madlingozi. In addition, Robert has composed the music for the rock opera/musical “The Ancient Mariner” which featured international stars Oliver Reed (Gladiator) and Michael York (Austin Powers). Composer and Lyricist The late Bertha Egnos (1912-2003) and Gail Lakier (1942-2010), who composed the music for the stage musical “Ipi Ntombi”, wrote the music and lyrics for this song.
