Angels from Heaven Came
Advent and Christmas are full of expectation and joy. We hope that Angels From Heaven Came becomes one of your favourite seasonal CDs and heightens your own experience of the wonder and beauty that is Christmas. This collection of music was recorded either as part of Christ Church Cathedral’s Advent Lessons and Carols service for broadcast by CBC radio in 2002, or as unedited submissions for the CBC’s biennial choral competition. Vancouver’s Christ Church Cathedral Choir is recognized as one of the finest of its kind in Canada, having won their category of the CBC’s biennial Amateur Choral Competition in 1998, 2000, 2002, and 2006. In 2006 they also won a competition-wide award for the Best Performance of a Canadian Work; that work was Jonathan Quick’s Angels From Heaven Came. Rupert Lang has been Organist and Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral since 1986. In addition to leading the Cathedral Choir, he is the founder and Artistic Director of the Vancouver Children’s Choir. A sought after composer, his works have been commissioned by choirs all over North America, performed world-wide, and published by Boosey & Hawkes (New York).
