There’s a World of Song is a collaborative song project of Darrell Scott and Jefferson Center (located in Roanoke, VA) that is focused on building support for Jefferson Center’s Music Lab, a non-profit arts education program for youth. An original creation of Darrell Scott’s, There’s a World of Song was built using artists from around the Roanoke community, as well as popular musicians from around the nation. The song serves as a testament to the creative processes happening inside Jefferson Center's Music Lab through songwriting projects, performance opportunities, and inspiring artist to student collaborations. There’s a World of Song is for sale around the world, with all proceeds benefiting arts education initiatives at Jefferson Center. From Kathy Mattea to the Blind Boys of Alabama, Jefferson Center's 2011/2012 season boasted an impressive lineup of soulful singers and incredible songwriters. Recognizing the absurd array of talent on display, famed singer/songwriter Darrell Scott and Jefferson Center's Artistic Director Dylan Locke decided it was time to transform a long conceptualized project into a reality. With the willing support of various artists on the season lineup, talented community voices and many other well known musicians from around the nation, There's a World of Song became a reality. Recorded and fully produced inside Jefferson Center’s 3rd floor professional recording studio and arts education hub, the Music Lab. In March of 2012, Darrell Scott premiered the song live at Jefferson Center. Following the completion of the accompanying music video, Darrell Scott and Tim O’Brien premiered the music video inside Jefferson Center’s main hall in the fall of 2013. The video was received with an extended standing ovation and with that thunderous applause echoing through the halls of the Jefferson Center, audience members celebrated the commitment to arts education shown by Scott, this community, and guest artists such as Tim O’Brien, Del McCoury, Rene Marie, and Snarky Puppy’s Michael League. Now, as Scott and Locke both originally envisioned, There's a World of Song is available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting Jefferson Center's Music Lab and the thousands of young musicians the program serves annually.
