The scene: A night club in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1970. On stage is a swinging hot band laying down some heavy salsa dance music. In walks Ismael Maisonave, a New York record producer, he sees the band and thinks "these guys are hot, I just gotta record them". And that is just what he does to produce this gem of an album. Young Puerto Ricans playing 1970s old school salsa music: guaguanco, descarga, guaracha, plena etc., the music that was so popular back then. Back in New York other young Puerto Ricans who know this music grab it, and they still grab even today, as it's still as hot now as back in the day!
