Cult of Color

Graham Reynolds and the Golden Arm Trio Golden Arm Trio is the super-charged performance vehicle of composer, bandleader, pianist and drummer Graham Reynolds. Based in Austin, Texas, Graham works constantly in theater, dance, film, concert halls, and nightclubs. His compositions include five symphonies, two operas, a violin concerto, more than a dozen one movement string quartets and countless chamber music pieces. The group has toured throughout the United States and in Europe and has released three critically acclaimed CD\'s, as well as last year’s major motion picture soundtrack for Richard Linklater’s “A Scanner Darkly”. Recent release “The Tick-Tock Club” charted top ten at public and college radio stations throughout the country and up into Canada. Graham’s film scores include five feature films, dozens of short films, animated shorts, and more than 20 silent films. Last year he had his second film premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, the German documentary “All About Tesla”. Theater works range from recorded incidental music to fully scored musicals with live accompaniment on more than a dozen productions. Graham is the resident composer with Salvage Vanguard Theater and a company member with the Rude Mechs. Cult of Color: The Recording and CD The score for Cult of Color was developed over the course of a year, with recording starting in the summer of 2007 and continuing through March of 2008. Many of the instrumental sounds were layered, processed and effected, sometimes beyond recognition. Like The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper, this is not a piece of music that could be performed live, the recording is its final intended form. The performance version was mixed in full 5.1 surround sound and, in addition to the music, contains a filmic sound design created collaboratively by Buzz Moran and Graham Reynolds. The CD is a stereo mix of the full ballet. Upcoming Projects Upcoming projects include an album of all Duke Ellington material, the score to a new feature film by syndicated radio talk show host Alex Jones, and a collaborative professional-football inspired theater piece with writer-comedian Shannon McCormick produced by Salvage Vanguard. The internationally acclaimed Rude Mechs piece “The Method Gun” looks to tour later this year, featuring sound design and music from Graham. Salvage Vanguard has also been touring nationally with “The Intergalactic Nemesis”, a live sci-fi radio serial featuring a live score from Graham and the Off-Broadway production is planned for spring 2009.
