The inspiration for this CD was awakened by a casual conversation shared by Claire Sokol and Dolora Zajick in the front hall of our Carmel of Reno monastery in 2012. For some time we had been looking for someone to make a significant musical contribution toward the 500th anniversary of the birth of St. Teresa of Avila, Foundress of the Carmelite Order in the XVIth century. One day, several months into this on going conversation Dolora said: "I've been thinking, let's do it ourselves." Two years and a thousand stories later - here it is. We chose the title "Living Water" because it describes Teresa's relationship with Jesus as well as her fondness for the Samaritan woman at the well, seeing in her a mirror of her own longing for the true Water of Life that quenches every thirst. Strengthened by her encounter with Jesus, Teresa, like the Samaritan woman, set out to bring others to meet Christ. We hope that our musical contribution might serve to inspire all on their own sacred journey.
