The Death of Me
In May of 2011, KATRINA teamed up with one of her former producers and great friend MG! THE VISIONARY from Seattle, WA. Together they created her newest album THE DEATH OF ME. While preparing to go to Seattle to record this project, KATRINA began experiencing a case of writers block at the worst time possible. She had commitments to record a 5 song EP, but with only one week before her scheduled departure she only had two and a half songs completed. She teamed up with LYN RICHARDSON for some last minute help in finishing the title track “The Death Of Me,” which was almost complete. Then she decided to look back at an old scrapped project that she wrote back in 2007 with WESLEY LITTLE. She found two songs that were at one time her favorites. She was able to slightly manipulate them and they became two of the hottest tracks on the project… The jump off track “C’mon” – co written by WESLEY LITTLE and the finale track “I Try.” The other three songs create a short story… “Down The Road” is where the story begins. It’s a song where love & questions collide. “His Way” (which was inspired by LYN RICHARDSON’s play “Sex His Way”) is where desire leads to decisions that inevitably put a relationship with man before our most important relationship with God, but re-organizing the proper order within our hearts throughout the process. Then the climax of the story is “The Death Of Me” – co written by LYN RICHARDSON. This is where the everyday struggle of our flesh battles it out with our spirit. Inevitably the death of “ME” is the death of everything selfish within us and being restored into the new and true life that we were created to live. “Your love was the death of me… a beautiful exchange in time. Your sweet love gave me life.” ~Kat The Death of Me is a journey to selflessness and is a challenge to keep getting back up when we fall down. Exactly two years after the release of her first solo project “Loud & Clear”, KATRINA releases her sophomore album THE DEATH OF ME on December 10th, 2011. Musically, THE DEATH OF ME is a fusion of Hip-Hop and Seattle Rock! Combined with a mixture of Katrina's vocal transitions from smooth lyricism to soulful song, this is an album that possesses a uniqueness that you will definitely want to add to your music collection!
