While trying to tell stories of heartbreak and loss, Case fails to generate any genuine emotion. Most of the tracks on the album use tired R&B arrangements featuring generic synthesizer and rhythm tracks. The sole exception is "Missing You," a respectable ballad that blends piano and acoustic guitar with lyrics that convey genuine heartache. Case tries to throw some upbeat tracks into the mix with typical booty-shaking songs like "Sex Games," but those tracks are just as mediocre as the ballads. For his third album, Case fails to create even one original moment; perhaps this Open Letter should have never been written.
