The name Julie hides Júlia Horányi, a singer-songwriter, set designer from Budapest,Hungary. Her interest for music and visual arts has shown very early, in her kindergarten years where she wrote her first songs. She's studied piano and singing in the Leo Weiner music school in Budapest, which was followed by learning in the Singer School of Budapest, has taken part in many concerts and recording sessions. Her secondary school class was specialized to theater so therefore she has learned acting, contemporary dancing, drawing. She decided to enter the university as theater set-designer, and graduated in 2009. Her first music project was the girl group Plüsss, which was based on three equal female voices, their cover of 'American boy' received heavy airplay at the Budapest Jazzy radio. After the group disbanded, she's started a duo with Gergő Álmos called Mїus. Their first EP was released in december 2011, alongside with their first video, now they're working on their first full-length album and preparing for the upcoming summer tour. After fruitful cooperations with Berlin based hungarian producer Carlos, the two have decided to release their songs as Julie-s first solo release, entitled The Blue. The songs build up a sensitive mood based on nu-jazz and post-dubstep influences. Visuality is very important for Julie which she always connects to music, all her projects have a special visual world which is brought to life by creative group of artists around her. Her musical style is influenced by the big mama's of jazz: Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sade, Diana Krall, Norah Jones. The works of Chopin, the opera voice of Maria Callas and the music of the Beatles. A Julie néven futó szóló projekt mögött Horányi Júlia, budapesti énekes-látványtervező áll. A zene és a vizuális művészetek iránti érdeklődése már korán megmutatkozott. A Weiner Leó Zeneiskolában, Budapesten 4 évig zongora majd énekleckéket vett. Utána a Budapesti Énekes Iskolában énekelt, részt vett lemezfelvételeken és számos fellépésen. Gimnáziumi tanulmányait drámatagozatos osztályban folytatta, ahol tanult színészmesterséget, kortárs táncot, rajzot, éneklést. Ekkor kezdte meg magánének tanulmányait, amiket a mai napig folytat. A középiskola után kezdett intenzívebben érdeklődni a képző-és iparművészetek iránt, úgy határozott, hogy színházi látványtervezést fog tanulni, diplomáját is ebből szerezte 2009-ben. Kezdetben a Plüsss nevű lánytrióban énekelt, ahol a vokál témák három egyenrangú női hangra épültek. American boy feldolgozásukkal mai napig szerepelnek a Budapesti Jazzy Rádió lejátszási listáján. Jelenleg a szóló projekt mellett egy duó projektben is részt vesz, melyben Álmos Gergővel zenél, Mїus néven. Decemberben jelent meg első kislemezük, elkészült az első stúdió-klipjük és jelenleg az első albumon dolgoznak. A Julie- The Blue projekt szintén előzménye egy nagylemeznek valamint a berlini live act-eknek. A számokat a jelenleg Berlinben élő Carlos néven ismert zeneszerző-zongorista írja. Julie számára nagyon fontos a vizuális tartalom megjelenítése, melyet mindig a zenéhez kapcsol, nem önállóan, de kreatív társakkal együttműködve mindkét projekt esetében létrejön egy sajátos vizuális világ. Zenei stílusára nagy hatással voltak a klasszikus fekete jazz zene nagyasszonyai, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald valamint Sade, Diana Krall, Norah Jones. Továbbá Chopin művei, Maria Callas drámai operaáriái és a Beatles zenéje is.
